What is a blackhead, It is a very common problem, about 90 percent of you sooner or later will have blackheads. It is really a very pesky and irritating problem. Blackheads are obstructed pores. Pores are pathways for oil to exit from the skin onto the skin.
You need this oil, This oil is really important for good skin moisture, it’s important for healthy skin, it is important for nutrient delivery. So what happens when that pore gets obstructed, all that oil gets stuck under the skin, then on top of it, you get dead skin cells and other debris that get blocked up inside the pores as well. Hence the color of black that is appearing on the skin.
Take an example of an apple, when you cut it it is white, and after some time it gets brown because of oxidation. So blackhead is not from dirt but it is black due to oxidation. Now blackhead then becomes an obstructed pore that has just not able to clean itself out.
If you don’t understand what is a blackhead yet, let me explain it further, Blackhead is actually an area of the skin that has a little opening in it, and that opening is filled with sebum which is basically oil, bacteria and different types of skin debris.
Opening in your skin allows air to hit all that junk into that hole and that causes oxidization and that basically turns your blackhead into a black colored blackhead. If there is not an opening in the skin, and all that junk stuck there then you will have a lovely whitehead. In short, whiteheads have no head over them, these are just covered by skin.
What are Causes of Blackheads?
These are caused by an excess of oil, excess of skin cells, excess of pollution etc. Hormones menstruation and certain drugs like birth control pills, corticosteroids, lithium, or androgens, certain cosmetics, the humidity will also worsen the prevalence of blackheads on your skin.
Dairy products and foods containing carbohydrates that increase blood sugar levels may play a part in triggering acne pimples and whiteheads. As far as hygiene is concerned, it is actually considered a myth the poor hygiene causes blackheads, in fact, excessive washing and scrubbing is likely to make blackheads worse, it’s too good to have proper hygiene however just don’t overdo it
Symptoms of Blackheads
Usually, blackheads have no symptoms, they are not painful as these are noninflammatory lesions, however, these do have a cosmetic effect. If blackheads infected with bacteria, then they turn into pimples which will become red and inflamed.
Common Area for Blackheads
Blackheads are very prevalent, very pervasive, very irritating for both men and women around the world, These are ugly and unsightly and people usually get them in areas where they are most oily naturally, these areas are forehead, nose which is a big problem area for most people, skin around your nose and even on your chin.
How to Prevent Blackheads
The best way to avoid blackheads and whiteheads is washing your face every single morning and every single night and that pretty much will avoid the oil, debris and the bacteria from building up in the first place. Don’t try to wash your face more than two times a day, as excessive washing can aggravate acne problem.
Always use oil free makeup, sunscreens, creams and lotions to avoid making your acne worse. You may use exfoliating masks and scrubs for your blackheads as these products help in removing dead skin cells from your face. Always select nonirritating products for your skin.
What are Differences Between Blackhead Whitehead and Pimples
These lesions are types of acne, however depending upon inflammation signs, these are divided into 3 types. Blackheads are obstructed pores, these are black because of oxidation of sebum.
Whiteheads are also filled with sebum and dead cells, but whitehead’s opening is so small that air can not oxidize it, so it is simply covered with skin, now come to pimples, these are red inflamed lesions with white tip of pus. pimples are formed when clogged pore is under too much pressure, these get ruptured and infected with bacteria.
